Emmylou
"Grandmother"
Prudence Emmeline Robern was born on Saturday,
April 4th, 2009 at 9:45pm. Daughter of Meghann
and Josh
She weighed 9 pounds 8 ounces and measured 21
1/2″ tip to stern. Her apgars (1-9 score of
healthiness) were 8 immediately after birth and
9 a little while later. We are very happy and
have been slowly recovering from the whole
process the last few days.
Delivery did not go as planned — little Prudence
decided that, while other babies come out
anterior and facing forward, she wanted to do it
posterior and facing backwards. As a
consequence, she got stuck in Mom’s pelvic bone.
After five days of stop-and-go labor, we
concluded that the baby was not coming out
without a caesarean section. Fifteen minutes of
major abdominal surgery later, Prudence was in
the world and Meg had stitches and staples.
Despite all that, the new Mommy seems to be
recovering well, and the baby has been declared
very healthy many times over by different
pediatricians. It wasn’t the way we wanted to do
things, but given the circumstances, we are
quite happy with what we got!
And, of course, pictures:

Kimmie Rhodes,
de uit Texas afkomstige zangeres en
(co)-schrijfster van talloze hits, zal
in september, ter ondersteuning van haar
nieuwe cd Walls
Fall Down,
het voorprogramma verzorgen voor Emmylou
Harris tijdens
haar Europese tournee.
Emmylou en Kimmie zijn al jaren
vriendinnen en hebben samen meerdere
liedjes geschreven en ook opgenomen. Hun
liedje Love
and Happniness For You was
de enige co-write op All
The Road Running,
de zo succesvolle duet cd van Emmylou
Harris en Mark Knopfler. Kimmie en
Emmylou hadden dat liedje alsook hun Send
Me The Sun opgenomen
voor Kimmie's cd Love
Me Like A Song,
uitgebracht op Kimmie's eigen label
Sunbird Records. Een ander
samenwerkingsresultaat was Ordinary
Heart dat
gebruikt werd in de film Happy
Texas en
ze traden ook samen op bij Austin City
Limits.
"Kimmie has the voice of a beautiful
child coming from an old soul. She
touches us where the better angels of
our nature dwell, and I believe we need
that now more than ever. If you haven't
before, do yourself a favor and bring
her into your listening life." -
Emmylou Harris
"Walls Fall Down" is the prolific and
renowned songwriter's best since "West
Texas Heaven". Her songs have a
sweetness and deceptive simplicity that
sets them somewhere between old love
songs and hymns. **** MOJO Magazine |

May - 2008
Emmylou naar Nederland .............
Er is leven na de festivals. Emmylou
komt op 26 September naar de Oosterpoort
in Groningen en 27 September naar
Theater Carré in Amsterdam. Zij zal hier
haar nieuw te verschijnen CD 'All I
intented to be' live voorstellen.
Emmylou nam bijna veertig jaar geleden
haar eerste plaatje op en werd in
februari 2008 opgenomen in de
Country Music Hall of Fame. Al die
jaren bleef ze live en in de studio zeer
actief.
Haar angelieke stem valt onder andere te
bewonderen op klassiekers van Gram
Parsons, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Willie
Nelson, The Band, Bright Eyes, Steve
Earle en (dichter bij huis) Admiral
Freebee. Daarnaast zong ze een
indrukwekkend solo-oeuvre bijeen dat
naast eigen werk ook zorgvuldig gekozen
covers omvat.
Begin de jaren negentig dreigde ze even
weg te deemsteren. In 1995 nam ze, samen
met Daniel Lanois, 'Wrecking Ball' op,
een voor haar doen zeer experimentele
plaat die ze ook live wist te
verzilveren. Vele niet country
liefhebbers kwamen zo in contact met
haar unieke stemgeluid en zouden haar
blijven volgen.
In 2006 ging ze op avontuur met Mark
Knopfler (de cd, de tour en jawel: de
dvd).
Op 6 juni verschijnt haar nieuwe CD in
Nederland (ja we zijn weer de eerste).
Achter de knoppen zat Brian Ahern,
dezelfde producer die haar hielp om de
klassiekers 'Elite Hotel, Pieces of the
Sky en Blue Kentucky Girl' in te blikken.
Op het menu staan, naast zelfgeschreven
levensliederen ook parels geschreven
door Tracy Chapman ('All that you have
is your soul'), Merle Haggard en Billy
Joe Shaver. Op de nieuwe tour zal
Emmylou zich laten begeleiden door een
traditioneel kwintet dat country en
goede smaak zal verzoenen.
Emmylou's tour band bestaat dit
jaar uit:
Brian Owings - drums
Chris Donahue - bass
Phil Madeira - keyboards
Colin Linden - guitar
Rickie Simpkins - mandolin, fiddle,
banjo

May, 2008
- NEW ALBUM: All
I INTENDED TO BE released on June 10,
2008
Nonesuch
Records will release Emmylou Harris'
new album All I Intended to Be on June
10. This is Harris' third release on
Nonesuch and her first solo effort since
2003's Stumble Into Grace. Of the
selected material, Harris explains,
"I've always seen myself as a relentless
songfinder, a singer of other people's
work whom I admire greatly, and an
occasional songwriter." A North American
summer tour in support of the record
begins May 23 in California with more
dates to be announced shortly.
Recorded over a four-year span primarily
at producer Brian Ahern's Easter Island
Surround in Nashville, for the first
time in 25 years, this album returns
Harris to the producer she worked with
for her first 11 albums. Taking its
title from a line in the featured
Harris-John Starling duet "Old Five and
Dimers Like Me" (Billy Joe Shaver), the
record includes both original material
as well as some of Harris' favorite
songs. As Fader magazine notes, "Harris'
records are distinguished by an almost
curatorial respect for the artifacts..."
Longtime friends Kate and Anna
McGarrigle co-wrote and sing on two
tracks, "How She Could Sing the Wildwood
Flower" and "Sailing Round the Room,"
while Dolly Parton, Vince Gill and Buddy
Miller also contribute vocals on the
album. .
A twelve-time Grammy winner and
Billboard Century Award recipient,
Emmylou Harris' contribution as a singer
and songwriter spans 40 years. She has
recorded more than 25 albums and has
lent her talents to countless fellow
artists' recordings. In recognition of
her remarkable career, Harris will be
inducted into the Country Music Hall of
Fame on April 27. Of Harris, Tammy
Genovese, CMA Chief Executive Officer
says, "(Emmylou) possesses the voice of
an angel. She is one of the most revered
song interpreters on the planet, and has
been instrumental in preserving country
music's past while expanding country
music's horizons throughout her career."
New York's WFUV also honors Harris this
spring, recognizing the singer with the
Sound and Vision Award at its annual
spring gala at Sotheby's on April 29..

Emmylou :"Well,
it's kind of a mysterious process,... Certainly, when I'm learning a
song, part of it's just sitting down with a guitar and finding the
key and then finding where I belong in it; how I fit in with that
song... If I could explain it better I would but I think it's
something that you just sort of throw yourself into. It's like
riding a wave. You don't really know where you're gonna end up."
